The Lopez family has well established their legacy as advocates of Oaxacan cuisine and culture. With husband and wife Fernando Lopez and Maria Monterrubio intially at the helm, the Lopez' children - Paulina, Fernando Jr., Elizabeth, and Bricia - are continuing their parents' hard earned success by expanding their mission and movement into an online retail presence with food products, apparel, cookbooks, kitchenware, and more. My visits to Guelaguetza start off with an Horchata, topped with fresh cantaloupe, chopped walnuts and pink cactus syrup, and a half order of Chapulines Mexicana - Spicy sautéed grasshoppers, served with Oaxacan cheese and avocado.
