Ooof, this one hit me right in the nostalgia feels. In the late evenings / early mornings of my 20s after a full night of partying at Les Deux, Ivar, or the King King, you could probably find me (with an oversized hoodie atop my clubbing clothes and my cute but painful shoes changed out for flip flops) standing in line for a carne asada burrito con todo at El Gran Burrito. Affectionately nicknamed “The GB”, El Gran Burrito was a little grimy, cash only, so good, and the perfect fix after all the Grey Goose + cranberry I drank at the club.
El Gran Burrito unfortunately closed during the pandemic, but my fond memories still remain. The all-too-necessary post clubbing food stop before going home was either here, somewhere in Thai Town, or the Jack in the Box on the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga across from Ameoba Records, which, IF YOU KNOW THE LORE, honestly deserves a drawing and story time of its own - But I’ll save that for another day. Thanks for joining me on this trip down memory lane! - El Gran Burrito 4716 Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90029
